American National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released a report on July 28th. The report states that according to the world’s top ten weather index, the Earth has become warmer and warmer within 50 years, especially in the last 10 years.
This annual report which is written by more than 300 scientists in 160 institutions from more than 48 countries indicates that global warming is undeniable through the analysis of 10 indicators clearly related with surface temperature. In the 10 indicators, land temperature, sea surface temperature, ocean temperature, ocean level, ocean heat, humidity and temperature of the troposphere are all rising. But arctic sea ice, glaciers and Northern Hemisphere spring snow cover are declining. The data are from several channels like satellites, weather balloons, weather stations, ships, buoys, and field trips.
Arndt, the head of Climate Monitoring department in American National Weather Data Center, pointed out that 1980th is warmer than any decade before and every year in 1990th is warmer than average temperature in 1980th. Also, the first decade in the 21st century is warmer than average temperature in 1990th. Therefore, these 10 years have been the warmest decade so far. Climate warming will threaten coastal cities, infrastructure, water supply, sanitation and agriculture.
Report states that since 1980, the temperature of each decade has been 0.2 degree Fahrenheit higher than that in the last decade. Experts say that the Earth temperature goes up by 1 degree Fahrenheit (0.56 degrees Centigrade) since the past 50 years. Although it is a slight increase at the first glance, it is enough to make continuing melting of glaciers and sea ice, frequent heavy rain, and heat waves.
